Made by Daniel Haviland in Limoges, France, these pieces are rare and highly sought after. I'm lucky to have been able to add this to our growing collection! Established in 1842, Haviland initially got his business started with the intent of catering to the US market. He actually revolutionized the industry by becoming the first factory in France to both make the china and decorate them in the same factory. Prior to this it was done in two separate factories. According to Warman's Antiques and Collectibles the name Haviland was synonymous with "fine, white, translucent porcelain" and was the go to for new brides for their wedding china.
This piece has a really unique shaped cup with a fluted outside and accented with delicate little pink roses set in gold leaves. It's really beautiful in that subtle, Parisian way. No chips or cracks!
